In Germany last week, 300 AI researchers lobbied the German parliament to ban AI weapons systems. Stuart Russell, a prominent AI researcher who wrote one of the early textbooks on the subject, is meeting with the UK Defense Ministry this week. One of the top AI scientists in the US, Ronald Arkin, is also part of the movement of concerned researchers. Arkin spoke with The World’s host Marco Werman about the group’s concerns and how the stakes have changed.
