A global scheme to scan as many human irises as possible is setting off alarms in Europe. Sam Altman, from OpenAI, has created the program, he says, to create the most secure form of ID authentication the world has known. In exchange for letting his machines scan your eyeballs you get about $80 of his new cryptocurrency. Privacy advocates question the creation of this giant database, and say poor people are being preyed upon without knowing what they’re signing away.
