A South African cartoonist on his nemesis: Jacob Zuma

The World

Former South African President Jacob Zuma is back in court today on corruption charges and one cartoonist couldn’t be happier. South African Zapiro, aka Jonathan Shapiro, has been drawing Jacob Zuma critically for more than 20 years. He’s been sued twice by the former South African president but will not let up. Zapiro hopes that Zuma is a footnote in his country’s history but worries his legacy may be more toxic than that. Carol Hills talks to Zapiro about his cartoon confrontations with Zuma and the role of satire in South Africa today.
