A personal journey back home to Ethiopia

The World

Around the world, the Ethiopian diaspora has watched the military conflict unfold in northern Ethiopia. They wait for information and try to make sense of their personal stories against the backdrop of this unfolding conflict. This includes Meklit Hadero, an Ethiopian American musician and culture activist. She shares a story that takes us back to Ethiopia, before the conflict, before COVID-19. This is part of our ongoing series about the lives and work of immigrant musicians, called “Movement.”
