The race is on to develop a vaccine for the new coronavirus. It’s a global emergency, which means nearly the entire world population of more than 7 billion is going to need a vaccine. There could be lots of money for the company that comes up with a vaccine, or maybe not. Today, a public-private partnership between American pharmaceutical giant, Merck, and the nonprofit scientific research group IAVI was announced.
