The Ethiopian pianist and nun Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou grew up wealthy and privileged in Addis Ababa, mixing with the likes of former Emperor Haile Selassie. She also became a piano talent. But she turned away from a promising international touring career and decided to devote herself to her religion — mixed with some music.
