Major shipping companies suspending Red Sea route

Transport companies are keeping their tankers and container ships out of the Red Sea. This is in response to a rash of missile, drone and speedboat attacks on commercial shipping in the Bab al-Mandab strait, an 18-mile wide chokehold at the southern entrance to the Red Sea. The World’s Marco Werman speaks with Sal Mercogliano, professor of maritime history at Campbell University in North Carolina, about the threat to maritime traffic from Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
