Farm animals are smarter than some previously thought

Studies conducted at the Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology in Dummerstorf, Germany, test the mental and emotional capacities of goats, pigs and cows. Wide ranging research into social cognition, even empathy, reveal that livestock are more than dumb animals.
