American trapped in Gaza: ‘We’d like to think that we are a top priority’

The Rafah crossing gates swung open for individuals today for the first time since the Israel-Hamas war began. Hundreds of foreign nationals and wounded civilians streamed through. But the majority of the estimated 400 US citizens in Gaza weren’t permitted to exit.  Among the disappointed was 36-year-old Palestinian American Abood Okal. The trapped Massachusetts resident and cancer researcher spoke with The World’s Marco Werman from Rafah.
