Is London’s working-class Cockney accent becoming extinct?

The distinctive Cockney accent once flourished in the south and east of England. But research is finding it’s in decline and morphing into something related, but distinctly different. Amanda Cole, a lecturer in language and linguistics at the University of Essex, tells The World’s Marco Werman that Cockney’s demise is a result of successive generations of East Londoners moving out of the the city and settling in new areas.
