The war in Ukraine continues to rage as the world’s attention lies elsewhere in the Middle East. Fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces has escalated significantly in and around the town of Avdiivka since Oct. 10. The town lies close to the city of Donetsk, which is controlled by Russia, making it strategic territory in Ukraine’s Donbas region. The World’s Marco Werman spoke with Dmitri Alperovitch, chairman of the Silverado Policy Accelerator, for an update on the different arenas of battle between Russia and Ukraine right now.
