Chileans ask US govt to ‘return their history’

Next month, Chileans will mark the 50th anniversary of the CIA-backed coup that ushered in 17 years of military rule. They’re calling on foreign governments to release all documents related to their role in the putsch. In recent days, the US State Department has declassified two coup-related daily briefings that landed on President Richard Nixon’s desk. But Chile’s ambassador to the US, Juan Gabriel Valdés, tells The World’s Marco Werman that Chileans want more.
