Japan is set to begin releasing nuclear wastewater in the Pacific Ocean at the end of August. It’s part of a plan to decommission the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant after it was destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami in 2011. But the fishing and tourism industries in east Japan are concerned that people will believe the water is contaminated, and stop buying Japanese fish, or coming to the seaside resorts to eat it and swim.
