Why some civilians in Niger welcome the military coup

Crowds of young men gather at traffic circles in the evenings in Niger’s capital Niamey. They say they’re a “citizens’ watch group,” patrolling the streets to ensure that outsiders don’t drive into Niamey and try to turn back the military coup. The World’s Carolyn Beeler speaks with Sani Ayouba, in the capital, Niamey, who describes why some youth are in favor of  the coup.
