Japanese people online have reacted angrily, especially around some of the film’s marketing campaigns. The World’s Carolyn Beeler spoke with Jennifer Coates, professor of Japan studies at the University of Sheffield, about the reaction to the film and the difference between Hollywood depictions of nuclear bombs being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki with that of Japanese cinema.
