Internal displacement hits record number in 2022 due to war and disasters

Millions of people are forced to leave their homes every year, driven by violence or disaster. While there is much made about people crossing borders for shelter, most displacement around the world happens within countries. A new report shows that the number of people internally displaced hit a record high last year, with more than 70 million people displaced within their own country, up 20% from the previous year. The World’s Marco Werman talks to Vicente Anzellini, with the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva, the organization which led the report.
