The Seattle City Council voted on Tuesday to ban caste-based discrimination, a first for an American city. The measure was introduced by a South Asian immigrant member of the city council and opposed by the Hindu American Foundation. Marco Werman speaks with Yashica Dutt, author of the memoir: “Coming Out as Dalit.”
