Ottawa’s famous skateway may be closed all winter

A mild winter in Ottawa has prevented conditions needed for the famous Rideau Canal Skateway to open this year, and time is running out. The world’s largest skating rink has never been closed this late into the season, and scientists warn that this is a glimpse into the future if ambitious climate targets are not met. The World’s Anna Kusmer reports that it’s not just the Skateway, winter sports across North America are imperiled by warmer winters.
