The Tedeschi Trucks Band turns to a 12th-century Persian poet for inspiration

Host Marco Werman speaks with songwriter, vocalist and member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band Mike Mattison. He speaks with Werman about Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi who wrote “Layla & Majnun,” the influential epic romance poem that none other than Lord Byron called the “‘Romeo and Juliet’ of the East.” It’s one part of the band’s new four-part album “I Am The Moon” — being released in four successive chapters over the summer.
