Despite an economy in ruins, the Taliban excel as tax collectors

Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the economy has dramatically contracted, businesses have laid off workers and half the country is facing starvation. Despite this, the Taliban have managed to keep revenue flowing. Avantika Chilkoti of the Economist says that they are extremely efficient at collecting taxes, using systems left over from the allied forces.
