The Biden administration has decided to extend Trump-era tariffs on solar panel imports. While these tariffs apply to all countries, China is the target. The debate over these tariffs have split the US solar industry, with some supporting and some against. Supporters of the tariffs say they are needed if the US wants to stay competitive, and help to undermine China’s industry which uses forced labor. Those against the tariffs say there are better tools the US can and should use to boost US solar and address human rights in China. The World’s Anna Kusmer has the story.
