Uganda finally opens schools after pandemic closures

Students and teachers in Uganda reunited today, after nearly two years of COVID-19 shutdowns. But Mary Goretti Nakabugo, executive director of Uwezo Uganda, a nonprofit that conducts educational research, tells The World’s Carol Hills why many Ugandan students won’t be returning to their classrooms.
