Not everyone in England buys into an idea that is popular among certain Brits that American English is taking over. Firstly, there are tons of British English words that have moved in the other direction — “cheers” or “gobsmacked” or “row.” But, some British regional dialects are fading away. It’s not Americanisms that taking over, it’s Londonisms. But who wants to blame Londoners when Americans are available?
