At least 24 airlines around the globe are suspending or severely reducing flights as COVID-19-related travel restrictions shake the industry. US airlines are asking for a government bailout of over $50 billion. Whether that’ll happen is up in the air, but what’s certain is that the global airline industry will be changed by the pandemic. The World’s Marco Werman speaks with aviation specialist Phil Seymour, who heads the UK-based consulting firm IBA, about the likely winners and losers as the airline industry tries to weather the losses caused by the pandemic.
