Artists often impose limitations on themselves to minimize tinkering or the fear of failure — but even those deadlines are hard to maintain. A group of young playwrights in New York City decide to take another route, literally. The force themselves to write a play in the time it takes to ride the A train its full length. On the ride back, they write songs for the new play, with collaborators picked at random. The whole production must then be staged within 24 hours of exiting the turnstiles. Caitlin Shetterly sat along for the ride, from the brainstorming to the curtain call.
