Back in 1928, you had to go to a movie theater to see Mickey Mouse. He made his big screen debut that year in Steamboat Willie. Today it seems like he’s all over the place: TV, the internet, and just about everything else. His silhouette is branded on our clothing, our dishware, even our skin. Everywhere we go, there’s Mickey.
It’s those ears — they’re iconic.
Here in Studio 360, we have Mickey on our minds as we finish up an American Icons program about the Mouse’s place(s) of residence: the Disney Parks. But we’ve been floored by just how ubiquitous Mickey’s image has become in our daily lives.
