Students react: Amanda Knox found guilty

ROME, Italy — After an 11-month trial, a jury found American exchange student Amanda Knox guilty. Since that verdict came down late Friday night, opinions have been raging in the press, online and on college campuses.

The jury announced a 26-year sentence for Knox and 25 years for her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, both of whom were found guilty in connection with the gruesome murder of Knox’s roommate, Meredith Kercher, in 2007.

At Loyola University Chicago’s Rome Center, American students studying abroad in Italy reflected on the surprising verdict and what it might mean to other exchange students.
