Zimmerman’s new bond hearing June 29 in Trayvon Martin case

George Zimmerman will return to a Florida courtroom June 29 for a new bond hearing as he awaits his murder trial in the Trayvon Martin case.

Lawyers for the neighborhood watch volunteer, who says he shot the unarmed black teen in self-defense, asked for a new hearing after a judge revoked the original release, AFP reported.

Prosecutors said Zimmerman hid thousands of dollars he raised through a website, and a judge ordered him back into jail on Sunday.

“While Mr. Zimmerman acknowledges that he allowed his financial situation to be misstated in court, the defense will emphasize that in all other regards, Mr. Zimmerman has been forthright and cooperative,” lawyer Mark O’Mara said on gzlegalcase.com.

Zimmerman’s original bond was $150,000 set in April.

It was then that Shellie Zimmerman said she couldn’t afford to free her husband – who is unemployed –because she was a full-time student, The Associated Press said.

Prosecutors later learned the Zimmermans now have about $193,000 from online donations to their legal defense.

His lawyers said their client needs that money for living expenses and security because he's received death threats.

They received about $1,000 per day when a judge ordered Zimmerman back to jail, ABC News said.
