Rev. Al Sharpton (L) attends a rally with Sybrina Fulton (C), mother of slain teenager Trayvon Martin, as family attorney Benjamin Crump (R) looks on March 22, 2012 in Sanford, Florida. Sanford Police Department Chief Bill Lee announced he will temporarily step down following the killing of the black unarmed teenager by a white and Hispanic neighborhood watch captain. Sharpton organized the rally.
Trayvon Martin supporters and civil rights leaders marched to the Sanford, Fla., police station today in the latest call for justice in the case, the Associated Press reported
Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton are among about 1,000 protesters carrying “justice for Trayvon” signs and wearing T-shirts with Martin’s image on them.
They’re demanding an arrest in the case. It’s been more than a month since neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman admitted to shooting the 17-year-old Martin, CNN said.
“We’re here to say save our sons, bring Mr. Zimmerman to justice,” NAACP President Ben Jealous told CNN.
Zimmerman confronted the unarmed Martin walking alone inside a gated community in Sanford, Fla. Police didn’t charge Zimmerman because there was no evidence he wasn’t defending himself.
Martin, who was carrying candy and soda, was returning to the house of his father’s fiancée.

State prosecutors are saying there still could be charges, The Associated Press reported.
Angela Corey is an experienced special prosecutor who holds Zimmerman’s fate in her hands.
“She is a tough-minded prosecutor who is prepared, thorough and a very good advocate for the prosecution in the court,” Florida lawyer Ann Finnell told the AP.
Corey could also call a grand jury in the case.
Meanwhile, a funeral director who prepared Martin’s body for burial said he saw no signs of a “life and death struggle,” CBS News reported.
Richard Kurtz said there were no injuries evident to Martin’s body other than the gunshot wound to the chest.
His knuckles were unscathed, and Martin had no scratches or cuts.
“In dressing the body, we could see no physical signs that there had been a struggle, there had been a fight,” Kurtz told CBS. “The story just does not make sense.”
