A young mother has been charged in relation to the death of her baby who died from injuries allegedly sustained in a DUI accident.

The Roanoke Times reported Harmony Stair, 32, of Virginia, was pregnant at the time of the accident on December 18 last year. She had been driving under the influence of alcohol and the two-car accident brought on her labor.

She was airlifted to a local hospital where her baby boy, Caiden, was surgically delivered.

He died two days later from what a medical report concluded were injuries allegedly suffered in the crash.

Investigators said hospital tests showed that both Stair and Caiden had alcohol in their systems, WSLS-TV reported.

The Montgomery County Commonwealth's Attorney, Mary Pettitt, said the grand jury indicted Stair on felony involuntary manslaughter, and drink driving charges.

According to the local newspaper, court records reveal Stair was convicted of driving under the influence in 2007 in Montgomery County and sentenced to a year of supervised probation.
