The Auburn Tigers battle the Alabama Crimson Tide on Nov. 26, 2011, at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala.
Three people are dead and as many as four more are injured following a shooting incident at an apartment complex near the campus of Auburn University in Alabama on Saturday night, the Birmingham News reported.
The dead include former Auburn football players Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips, the Birmingham News reported. Current Auburn football player Eric Mack was wounded in the shootings, but his injuries are not life-threatening. Two victims are in critical condition at the East Alabama Medical Center, according to the Birmingham News.
Phillips' mother, Jemecia Phillips, told ABC News her son, a 20-year-old fullback, died last night.
Sources told the Birmingham News that the shootings occurred during an argument at a pool party at the University Heights apartment complex. A man pulled out a gun and began shooting as the fight escalated.
The shooter was not associated with the Auburn football program, the Birmingham News reported.
A witness to the shootings told the Associated Press that the argument was over a woman.
On Sunday, crime scene investigators were at the apartment complex, which was sealed off with yellow tape, and police kept bystanders away from the scene, the AP reported.
