This bodypainting festival proves there’s no better canvas than the human body (PHOTOS)

At the World Bodypainting Festival, colorful is taken to a whole new level.

Held each year on July 3 to 5 in Pörtschach Austria, the festival showcases the amazing work of artists from around the world on a unique canvas: the human body.

The festival debuted in 1998 and is credited with founding the modern bodypainting art movement. 

This year’s festival showcased painting from artists from 47 countries and awarded over $46,000 in prizes. Around 30,000 visitors wandered through "Bodypaint City" — an open-air park where they could view the elaborate bodypaintings and listen to live music.
