What’s Marco Werman doing in a goal?

The World
The World

For our special World Cup program, The World talked to the soccer players at the Valeo Sports Center in Newton, Massachusetts.

We also thought it would be fun to put our host, Marco Werman, in the net and see how he holds up against a slew of soccer crazy kids.

He also asked some of the young soccer players why the World Cup was so important to them. Eric, one of the young players on the field, told Marco it was important that Brazil's team wins, because the world will have its attention on the rising country.

"I want them to win because it's more than just a soccer tournament for the world. Especially for Brazil, that's not really a rich country and needs to grow and I feel like since it's the world's stage right now, they can show the world what they can make of it."

Eric just so happens to be Brazilian.
