Martha Plimpton

Fair Game
The World

It’s not often that we have a guest who is both an accomplished Shakespearean actor and one of the co-stars of Goonies. But today is a good day. A great day, in fact, since she was nominated for a Tony award this morning. Martha Plimpton has gracefully sidestepped the pitfalls of early success – take note Lindsay – by working super hard at her craft. She’s a member of the Steppenwolf theater company. And last year, she earned a Drama Desk award and her first Tony nomination for her work in Tom Stoppard’s Coast of Utopia. Now she’s on Broadway in the revival of Caryl Churchill’s 1982 play, Top Girls. Martha Plimpton speaks with Faith Salie on Fair Game.

Do you support journalism that strengthens our democracy?

At The World, we believe strongly that human-centered journalism is at the heart of an informed public and a strong democracy. We see democracy and journalism as two sides of the same coin. If you care about one, it is imperative to care about the other.

Every day, our nonprofit newsroom seeks to inform and empower listeners and hold the powerful accountable. Neither would be possible without the support of listeners like you. If you believe in our work, will you give today? We need your help now more than ever!
