An old standard gets a Cameroonian twist

The capital of Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, has its own classical orchestra, known best as the Kinshasa Orchestra, or the Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste. Sometimes, all it takes is a little pop power to give a classical ensemble a boost for greater recognition. That’s what the Cameroonian singer, who goes simply as Irma, has done with her viral cover of Henry Mancini’s “Moon River,” accompanied by the Kinshasa Orchestra.
