You can’t stop the rain but you can slow it down. That’s the idea behind Indonesia’s cloud seeding project, which zips planes in the air when there’s a deluge incoming — all to try and redirect storms away from Jakarta, which is already sinking into the ground, and where many live in flimsy dwellings that wash away in monsoons.
