Tết celebrations begin in Vietnam with ABBA

Across East Asia, it’s a day of celebration, with China, Singapore, Taiwan and both Koreas celebrating the Lunar New Year. It’s a day to gather with family and chase away bad luck. In Vietnam, the holiday is called Tết, and as The World’s Patrick Winn explains, Tết has become synonymous with a song that’s not even Vietnamese: “Happy New Year” by the Swedish pop group ABBA.
