The Dominican Republic’s mass deportations of Haitians

The World

Since October, the Dominican Republic has deported more than 71,000 Haitians back to Haiti. They’re often sent back in trucks fitted with iron bars. Host Carolyn Beeler speaks with New York Times Latin America and Caribbean reporter Frances Robles about the strict immigration policy in place in the Dominican Republic, how it’s playing out on the ground and the historic and racially charged history the country has with Haiti.
