Sept. 16 will mark one year since the death of Mahsa Amini, who was in custody of the Iranian police for improperly wearing her headscarf. Her death sparked protests throughout Iran and the world against the Iranian government’s repressive treatment of women. Istanbul-based journalist Fariba Nawa reports on what’s changed for women and the protest movement in Iran over the last year.
