Violence and protests over Greek refugee camp expansions

Violence has escalated on the small Greek island of Lesbos this week. Residents are protesting the government’s plans to expand the island’s refugee camps that already house tens of thousands of people. Clashes intensified last week after the Turkish government said they were opening their border with Greece, allowing the passage of thousands more asylum-seekers. Anna Benedictsson is a humanitarian aid worker who has been on Lesbos since August. She tells The World’s Marco Werman that the violence is being perpetrated by a small minority of residents. She says many people in Lesbos are angry with the government’s management of the refugee crisis.
