The COVID-19 pandemic left people stranded around the globe, some of whom are still trying to get back home — including tens of thousands of Australians. A United Nations committee is deciding whether Australia should be called out for failing to uphold those citizens’ rights. As The World’s Rupa Shenoy reports, there’s only a small chance the committee’s decision will have a tangible impact, but it’s helping raise awareness about a bigger issue in Australia.
