Shanghai’s pet owners faced unique challenges under the city’s extended COVID lockdowns

When Shanghai went into lockdown in April, millions of residents were forced to stay inside. People who tested positive for COVID-19 were had to stay at quarantine facilities, with no government plan for who would take care of their pets while they were away. As The World’s Rebecca Kanthor reported from China, communities banded together to deal with the problem.
