Putin’s public focus on the Middle East

The World

President Vladimir Putin made a rare foray out of Russia today. In a whirlwind one-day trip, he visited the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Tomorrow he’s back in Moscow for a meeting with Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi. The World’s host Marco Werman explores both the intentions and the optics of this public focus on Iran with Anna Borshchevskaya, a Senior Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, who focuses on Russian policy toward the Middle East.
