A prominent newspaper in Afghanistan never stopped operating when many of its journalists had to flee the country in August of 2021. Etilaatroz went online only during the takeover of Kabul, and eventually, the team opened a new newsroom in an office building in Silver Spring, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. Valerie Plesch visited the newsroom and tells the story of how the news organization has continued to provide critical information in Afghanistan, even while the work of most journalists their is threatened.
