New Zealanders head to the polls

The World

New Zealanders head to the polls on Saturday. Jacinda Ardern’s Labour Party is in a comfortable double-digit lead over the more conservative National Party. The Labour Party is largely riding a wave of  popularity over Ardern’s successful handling of the pandemic and praise following the Christchurch terrorist attack. New Zealanders will also decide on two landmark social issues: whether to legalize recreational marijuana and whether to legalize euthanasia.
