In New Zealand, about as far as you can get from Minneapolis, thousands of people protested after George Floyd’s death. They managed to stop plans for increased policing that activists say would disproportionately harm Maori communities. Yet, as The World’s Rupa Shenoy reports, a  year later, New Zealand’s government is trying to expand police powers again.
