Ghana’s LGBTQ community faces increased discrimination following months of attacks

For years, the LGBTQ community in Ghana has gathered, supported each other and mobilized their movement online. But in January, an organization called LGBT+ Rights Ghana opened the first physical space for queer Ghanaians to meet. Just one month later, police raided the space and ordered it to be shut down. Since then, homophobia has been amplified in public and in Parliament. One activist fears that “the worst is yet to come.” The World’s Bianca Hillier reports.
