Mallacoota, Australia, is like a lot of seaside tourist towns: the population swells in summer, and then the tourists go home and the town retreats to a quieter, winter version. But last summer’s bushfires ravaged Mallacoota’s landscape and wiped out the tourist season. And now, heading into winter in the southern hemisphere, the town is trying to keep its many older residents safe from the coronavirus. Jodie York, vice president of the Business and Tourism Association in Mallacoota, speaks with host Marco Werman about how the town is coping.
