Families wait for the Biden administration to restore US refugee program

On the campaign trail, then-candidate Joe Biden pledged to rebuild the US refugee program, reversing the Trump administration’s decision to significantly shut the door to refugees — the first time the US had done that since World War II. Normally, about 90,000 refugees are allowed into the US each year. That number plummeted to historic lows under former President Donald Trump. But as The World’s Monica Campbell reports, many refugee families are still waiting for President Biden to take action.
