Civil rights groups oppose proposed domestic terrorism laws 

In the wake of the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol by extremist Trump supporters, leaders in the US House and Senate are considering strengthening laws that allow federal law enforcement to investigate and charge domestic terrorists. But as The World’s Rupa Shenoy reports, many civil rights groups oppose that move, arguing it will only lead to authorities abusing their power and disproportionately targeting Black and other diverse communities, as they have in the past.
